“Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing at all.” ~ Helen Keller
I’m thrilled to have two Affirmation Photography images juried into a Callanwolde Fine Arts Center exhibit, opening later this month.
And I’m a bit overwhelmed by the opportunity.
For starters, this is a black and white exhibit, and monochrome isn’t my go-to. But the technique has been a goal of mine this year, so I took a chance and put myself out there.
Plus, this isn’t a “nature” exhibit. The call for submissions was for your best B&W images to compete for a spot with others’ B&W images—finalists to be selected by Michael James O’Brien, SCAD’s Associate Chair of Photography. So, yeah, no worries there.
I’m not a risk-loving person. But I’m learning to crave adventure.
I wouldn’t say “daring” is at the top of any description of my core personality—but over the last two decades I’ve taught myself how to be “on the edge” creatively.
Putting yourself out there is risky business. But if I can, you can.
And when you do, just think of the adventures life has in store for you!
