A photo a day!
That's the gift I give myself as I turn 50.
365 chances to share an image with you, over the next year of my now half-centuried life.
365 messages will round out each post. Who knows what I'll say, any more than I could predict a rhyme or reason to the photographs you'll see. But it should be a fun ride!
Our not-shared moments hold boundless potential.
We'll never know how much, until we're brave enough to show the world more of who we are and what we believe.
Photography gives me that opportunity, visually, so that's my 365 Day Challenge.
I search out certain subjects and allow others to wander into my path. Typically, you'll find what I create in restaurants and galleries, in books and collections, on social media and through this website. And on my hard drives. So many of them these days. Years and years of them.
I've saved countless fledgling visions now, stored away, dormant, waiting to burst out, strut their stuff and be seen and known and understood by someone else. It's deceptively easy to forget how priceless a dream, a memory can be: to myself and others.
Far more makes us a whole than divides us. So why not, every day, share something of my very best and all I hope to be--and invite you to do the same?
So, for the next year, these are the instants when I'm inspired to pause and see light and shadow and composition. Join me as I push that shutter, because I can't help myself. There's something glorious about that flash of inspiration.
There's magic in longing for you to pause as well, to ponder and to share that same fleeting moment.
I'd love to hear from you--your thoughts on what I post, or news from your own 365 Day Challenge to give more of yourself away each day. Blog comments are on--at least until the spam posts get too bad.
I'm there, forever a part of everything I shoot--images of the nature I love, as well as captures of whatever makes me feel and dream and believe.
You'll find something good, I hope, that will enrich, lighten and brighten your day. What a gift that would be for me!
With these 365 captures, join me in dreaming big, wandering proudly, seeing with grace, and sharing with abundance.
Never forget that each time we truly see, we breathe in the world and release whatever blessing we might contribute to the flow. Something braver and more honest than ever before...
Day 1's Lens... Hope Springs Eternal.
As I framed and captured this image (and then worked with the amazing colors and textures in post) my smile grew wider and wider.
It's never too late, I remember thinking, just a few days shy of my 50th birthday. Look at this proud, beautiful, weathered, timeless beauty. She's sassy and grinning and proudly showing off her gorgeous features, as if all that's changed since the moment she was assembled is how much more she has to show the world.
To the day I die, I hope to remain just as spunky and spry and ready for my next close up!
